WooCommerce and WordPress website design built around what you sell

WooCommerce and WordPress website design gives you an online store or a business site on software you own, with product pages, search and checkout planned around what you sell. Our family-owned team in New Jersey designs and builds it, can host it, and quotes a fixed price first.

We built and run the Unit17 Auto Styling WooCommerce store · Family-owned in New Jersey since 2005 · Updated October 2026

Why it matters

What WooCommerce and WordPress website design includes

WooCommerce is the free, open source store software for WordPress. It adds products, a cart, checkout, orders and customer accounts to a WordPress site, and because both run on a web host you choose, the store, its data and its files belong to you. WordPress.com is a separate hosted service from Automattic. We design and build on self-hosted WordPress, the version from WordPress.org.

Most of the design work in a store goes into how buyers find and choose a product. We plan the menus and filters on category pages, what a product page shows next to the price, and how few steps checkout takes on a phone. Then we design the home, category, product, cart and account pages, set up payments, shipping and taxes, and connect the store to Google and to the marketplaces you sell on. For a parts seller that can mean shopping by vehicle, with the model years each part fits on every product page.

Some clients don’t sell online at all. For service businesses, restaurants and local shops we design WordPress sites with service pages, photo galleries and quote forms your team can edit without code. Frannie Kline founded OC Designs Online in 2005, and our family-owned team in Ocean View, New Jersey has designed websites and online stores in-house ever since, for a local diner, a pool service company, two travel planners and sellers who started on eBay or Amazon.

Redesigns

Signs your store or website needs a redesign

Plenty of older stores and sites still do their job. These are the problems owners usually bring to our first call, and what a new design changes.

What you noticeWhat a redesign changes
Buyers can’t find the right product Menus and filters built around how your customers shop, by category, brand, size or vehicle
Customers call to ask what the product page should answer Specs, fitment, shipping times and FAQs placed next to the price
Checkout is hard to finish on a phone A shorter checkout, tested on phones with the payment options your provider supports
Plugins have piled up and the store has slowed down Only the plugins the store needs, and speed checked before launch
Stock on eBay or Amazon is out of step with the website One stock count across your channels through SalesChannelHub
Every text change means calling a developer Pages, menus and product content your team edits in WordPress
The site doesn’t show up when people search for what you sell Page titles, headings, a sitemap and a Google product feed set up for each page type

Case study

Unit17 Auto Styling, a WooCommerce store we built and run

Unit17 Auto Styling sells carbon fiber body and styling parts for BMW, Audi, Mercedes and Tesla cars from Ocean City, New Jersey. The store runs on WooCommerce with a custom theme our team built and looks after, and in September 2026 we rebuilt its pages natively in that theme, with no page builder. Here is what buyers and staff use every day.

Part of the storeWhat it does
Shop by car Menus by make and model, such as the BMW G80 M3 or Audi RS3, and a “Your vehicle” box on category pages that narrows the parts to one car
Car and part pages About 70 landing pages for one car and one kind of part, such as G80 M3 diffusers, each with its own introduction and FAQ
Fitment by model year Product pages list every model year a part fits, one line per year, with an “Ask about fitment” form for buyers who aren’t sure
Category filters Vehicle, part type, price, deals and availability filters, with buying guides and FAQs on category pages
Product FAQs and store messages Questions about install, fitment and shipping answered on product pages, with shipping time, returns, warranty and a fitment guarantee shown near the price
Checkout Cards, PayPal and Klarna shown at a secure checkout
Accounts, tracking and emails Customer accounts, shipment tracking and order emails built into the theme
Google Shopping A Google Merchant Center product feed built into the theme
Hosting A VPS behind Cloudflare, with page caching

Cost

What decides the cost of a WooCommerce store or WordPress site

We don’t publish one price, because a five-page site for a local service and a store with thousands of products are different jobs. You get a fixed quote after a free consultation, and these are the things that move it.

What we look atWhy it changes the work
Number of page designs A home, category and product layout is the core of a store. Landing pages, brand pages, a blog and account pages each add design and build time.
Catalog shape A few hundred simple products need less work than thousands of products with variations, custom fields and fitment data.
Search and filters Category and price filters are standard. Vehicle fitment, custom finders and car or brand landing pages are extra development.
Payments, shipping and taxes Each payment provider, shipping rule and tax setting is set up and tested with orders before launch.
Integrations Marketplace connections, Google product feeds, accounting or shipping tools have to be connected and tested.
An existing site or store A redesign includes moving your old pages and products and redirecting any address that changes.
Content and brand Writing, product photos and a new logo add time when you need them.

Who we design for

WooCommerce stores and WordPress sites for your kind of business

Our WordPress and WooCommerce clients are mostly owner-run businesses and online sellers. Here is what the site has to do for each kind.

Business typeWhat the site has to doPages we usually plan
Auto and powersports parts Show only the parts that fit the buyer’s vehicle, with model years on every product page Make and model pages, car and part landing pages, product pages with fitment, and a fitment question form
Sellers who started on eBay or Amazon Give buyers a store of your own that carries your marketplace look, with stock kept in step across channels Home, category and product pages, shipping and returns, and account pages
Home and pool services List the services and the towns you cover, and collect quote requests Home, a page for each service, service area, reviews and a quote form
Restaurants and diners Show the menu, hours and directions, and put the phone number one tap away Home, menu, about, photos, and contact with a map
Travel and cruise planners Present packages with large photos, and turn interest into an inquiry form Home, destinations or packages, about the planner, and an inquiry form

Hosting and upkeep

What a WooCommerce store needs to run, and who looks after it

Every self-hosted store needs a few things to stay fast and safe. These are WooCommerce’s published requirements and tools as of October 2026, and how we handle each one.

What the store needsWhat WooCommerce saysHow we handle it
Current software WooCommerce 11.2 needs WordPress 7.0 or newer and PHP 7.4 or newer We keep WordPress, WooCommerce and extensions updated on the sites we host
A web host PHP 8.3 or newer, MySQL 8.0 or newer or MariaDB 10.6 or newer, and at least 256 MB of PHP memory are recommended Hosting quoted per site and sized to your catalog, or setup with the host you already use
HTTPS Required Every store we launch loads over HTTPS
Order storage High-Performance Order Storage keeps orders in their own database tables, on by default for new stores since WooCommerce 8.2 New stores start with it; older stores are checked before they switch
Payments WooPayments has no setup or monthly fee and charges per transaction; other payment providers connect through extensions We set up the provider you choose and test it with orders before launch
Google listings Google for WooCommerce syncs products to Google Merchant Center for free listings We set up a product feed so your products can appear on Google

Keeping your rankings

How we redesign a store or website without losing your Google rankings

A redesign changes how your site looks. The product, category and service pages Google already shows keep their addresses, or move with a redirect.

  1. Record what works today

We list every product, category and page that gets visits from Google, with its address, title and description, before anything changes.

  2. Build on a private copy

The new design is built on a staging site that only you and we can see, so your current store keeps selling.

  3. Keep or redirect every address

Pages keep their web addresses where possible. Any address that has to change gets a 301 redirect to its new page.

  4. Check speed and phones

We test the new site on phones and against Google’s Core Web Vitals: the main content in under 2.5 seconds, quick responses to taps, and no layout jumping.

  5. Launch and watch

We switch the domain to the new site, submit the sitemap to Google Search Console and check it in the weeks after launch for errors.

How we work

How a WooCommerce or WordPress project runs

One project manager from the first call to launch. Most custom stores take about six weeks.

Start with the questionnaire
  1. Consultation and quote

We talk about your products or services, your customers and what the site should do, look at your current site, and send a fixed quote and a schedule.

  2. Questionnaire and design

Our questionnaire collects your catalog details, photos, colors and the sites you like. You see the home, category and product pages, or your service pages, as real designs and approve them before we build.

  3. Build and test

We build the site on a private copy, load your products and content, set up payments and shipping, and test it on phones, tablets and desktops with test orders.

  4. Launch and support

We point your domain at the new site, set up redirects if anything moved, show your team how to edit it, and answer email for 30 days after launch and the phone Monday to Friday, 9 to 5 ET.

Good questions

Questions about WooCommerce and WordPress website design

Something else on your mind? Call (609) 675-0912 and a real person answers.

How our projects work
How much does a WooCommerce website cost?

It depends on how many page designs you need, the size and shape of your catalog, search and filters, payments and shipping rules, and any integrations. After a free consultation we send a fixed quote that doesn’t change once work starts, and there are no monthly design fees. Hosting is quoted separately for each site.

How long does it take to build a WooCommerce store?

About six weeks for most custom stores, from the consultation to launch. A business website with a few pages is usually quicker, and large catalogs or moves from another platform take longer. You get a schedule with your fixed quote.

Is WooCommerce free?

The WooCommerce plugin is free and open source. A store still pays for hosting and a domain, any paid extensions or themes, and the fees its payment provider charges on each sale.

Which is better, Shopify or WooCommerce?

It depends on how you want to run the store. WooCommerce runs on a host you choose, so you own every file and can change anything, and you or your developer keep it updated. Shopify hosts and updates the platform for you on a monthly plan. We design stores on both, so we can tell you which suits your products.

Can WooCommerce handle a large catalog?

Yes, when the hosting, caching and search are planned for it. New WooCommerce stores keep orders in their own database tables, which helps busy stores. The Unit17 Auto Styling store we built runs hundreds of car parts on WooCommerce, with shop-by-car pages and fitment for every model year.

Can I update my store or website myself?

Yes. Products, prices, stock, text, photos, menus and blog posts can all be changed in WordPress without code. We show your team how before launch, and we make design changes for you when you need them.

Do you host WordPress and WooCommerce websites?

Yes. We host the WordPress and WooCommerce sites we build, with updates and backups, and we quote hosting for each site based on its size and traffic. If you already have a host you like, we set the site up there instead.

What are the downsides of WooCommerce?

Because you host it yourself, someone has to keep WordPress, WooCommerce and the extensions updated, run backups and choose hosting that keeps up with the store. On sites we host, we take care of that. Some features also come from paid extensions instead of the core plugin.

Can my WooCommerce store sell on eBay, Amazon and Walmart?

Yes. SalesChannelHub, the inventory software we built, connects WooCommerce to eBay, Amazon, Walmart and other channels, so one stock count and one order queue cover every place you sell.

Can you add year, make and model search to WooCommerce?

Yes. We install our own Make/Model/Year search on WooCommerce stores for new clients, as we do on Shopify and BigCommerce. It can include trim and engine, a saved vehicle for returning buyers, and ACES data import, and we keep the vehicle data up to date for a monthly fee quoted with your project.

What is the difference between WordPress.com and WordPress.org?

WordPress.org gives you the free WordPress software to run on any web host, and you control the site and its files. WordPress.com is a hosted service run by Automattic that uses the same software on its own paid plans. The sites and stores we build are self-hosted WordPress.

Can you redesign my current website without losing Google rankings?

Yes. We list the pages and products that get visits from Google before we start, keep their web addresses where we can, add a 301 redirect for any address that changes, and check Google Search Console after launch.

Do I own my website?

Yes. Once the project is paid, the design, code, files and content are yours. You can keep the site with us, move it to another host or hand it to another developer.

Do you design WooCommerce and WordPress websites in New Jersey?

Yes. Our team works in-house in Ocean View, New Jersey, and we design stores and websites for businesses in South Jersey, across the state and around the US, by phone, email and screen share.
