Custom eBay store design that looks like a brand

A custom eBay store design brands every part of your store that eBay lets you change: the billboard, logo, store categories and featured items, plus a matching listing template for every item page. The store and template package is $999, with a free preview first and no monthly fees.

Why it matters

What custom eBay store design includes in 2026

eBay stopped allowing custom HTML store pages in 2018, and since June 2017 listings can’t run JavaScript or other active content. A custom design today works with what eBay gives every store: a billboard or a rotating carousel, a logo, a store description, up to 300 store categories, featured categories and items, a marketing banner and a store video. We design each of those for your brand, then build the listing template that buyers see on every item.

We’ve designed eBay stores since 2005, for one-person shops and for Microsoft, Pep Boys and 4 Wheel Parts. Nothing is a recolored stock theme. A dedicated account manager at our family-owned New Jersey office runs your project from the questionnaire to installation.

  • Featured items & marketing

Featured categories, featured listings and a 640 × 640 marketing banner, set up so new stock, best sellers and sales stay in view.

eBay’s numbers

eBay store design sizes and limits (2026)

eBay’s current limits for each part of a store (October 2026):

Store elementeBay’s limitWhat it means for the design
Billboard 1280 × 290 px, under 12 MB; standard or carousel Keep the message and logo away from the edges so phones don’t crop them.
Store logo 300 × 300 px, under 12 MB It also shows as a tiny avatar, so it has to read at thumbnail size.
Featured categories Up to 6, each with a 300 × 300 image Six tiles can send buyers straight to your best lines.
Marketing banner 640 × 640 px, under 12 MB; links to a sale, category or listing A seasonal version and a sale version are worth having.
Store video MP4 or MOV, under 150 MB; eBay reviews it in about 48 hours It plays in the carousel next to your billboard.
Store description 1,000 characters; the first 160 show before “more” Those 160 characters have to say who you are and what you sell.
Store categories Up to 300; each item can sit in 2 for free Plan the tree before uploading category images.
Featured listings Up to 4 rows of 6 Pick them by hand or let eBay fill them automatically.
Store name Up to 35 characters Changing it later can break links to your store.

Listing X-ray

The same item in two very different listings

Buyers decide in seconds whether a seller looks trustworthy. A branded template answers their questions before they ask (returns, shipping, condition, who you are) and keeps them browsing your other items.

  • No active content. Plain HTML and CSS, as eBay has required since June 2017.
  • Built for phones. Laid out for the screen most eBay buyers use.
  • Ready to paste. It works in eBay’s listing form and the tools you already use.

How we work

How a custom eBay store design project runs

One account manager from the first call to launch. Most stores take about three to four weeks.

Works with eBay’s listing form and Seller Hub, Sellercloud, SureDone, Solid Commerce, ChannelAdvisor (Rithum) and 3Dsellers.

Start with the questionnaire
  1. Questionnaire and quote

Tell us about your brand, your buyers and your goals. We look at your current store and send a fixed quote before any work starts.

  2. Free preview

Your first custom mock-up arrives in about 5 to 7 business days, so you can see the real store and listing design before you commit.

  3. Unlimited revisions

Ask for as many changes as you need. Each round takes 3 to 5 business days, and every layout is checked on phones, tablets and desktops.

  4. Install and support

We install the store and template within 7 to 10 business days of approval and apply it to your existing listings, so you keep their sales history and watchers. After launch you can still call us with any question.

Good questions

Questions about custom eBay store design

Something else on your mind? Call (609) 675-0912 and a real person answers.

How our projects work
What is a custom eBay store design?

It’s a design made for your brand and applied to every part of an eBay Store that eBay lets you change: the billboard, logo, store description, categories, featured items and marketing banner. Most sellers pair it with a matching listing template, because the item page is where buyers decide.

Can you still customize an eBay store with your own HTML?

No. eBay replaced custom HTML store pages with a standard layout in 2018, and listings can’t run JavaScript or other active content. You can still brand the store through its images and settings, and listing descriptions can use static HTML and CSS, which is how our templates are built.

How much does a custom eBay store design cost?

Our custom eBay store design and listing template package is $999. You get a fixed quote after the questionnaire, before any work starts, and there are no monthly fees.

How long does a custom eBay store design take?

About three to four weeks for most stores. The first mock-up arrives in about 5 to 7 business days after your questionnaire, each revision round takes 3 to 5 business days, and installation takes 7 to 10 business days after you approve the design.

What size are the eBay store billboard and logo?

eBay asks for a 1280 × 290 pixel billboard and a 300 × 300 pixel logo, each under 12 MB. Featured category images are 300 × 300 and the marketing banner is 640 × 640. The full list is in the size table on this page.

What’s the difference between an eBay store design and a listing template?

The store design is your storefront: billboard, logo, categories and featured items, set in Seller Hub. The listing template is the HTML description inside each item page. Many buyers land on an item straight from search and never see the store, so we design both to match.

Do I need an eBay Store subscription?

Yes, a storefront comes with an eBay Store subscription. As of October 2026 eBay’s plans start with Starter at $7.95 a month, or $4.95 a month on a yearly plan, and go up to Enterprise.

Will it work on phones and in the eBay app?

Yes. eBay’s store layout adjusts to phones and the app by itself, and we design the billboard and images so nothing important gets cropped. Our listing templates are mobile-first and tested in the eBay app before we install them.

Will my template follow eBay’s active-content rules?

Yes. eBay blocks JavaScript, Flash and other active content in listings. Our templates use clean HTML and CSS only. Layouts and galleries work without scripts, and on phones the sections stack in order instead of using tabs, as eBay’s mobile guide recommends.

Can you apply the new design to my existing listings?

Yes. We apply the new listing template to the listings you already have, so nothing needs relisting and you keep their sales history and watchers.

Does it work with my listing tool?

Yes. We install and test the template with the tool you use: eBay’s own listing form, Sellercloud, SureDone, Solid Commerce, ChannelAdvisor (Rithum), 3Dsellers and others.

Do I get a free preview before I pay?

Yes. After the questionnaire we design a custom mock-up for free, so you can see your store and listings before you commit.

How many revisions do I get?

As many as you need. We keep refining the design until you are happy with it, and each round takes about 3 to 5 business days.

Will a custom eBay store design increase my sales?

We can’t promise a number, and no independent study has measured one. A matching store and template make the shop look like an established brand, keep your policies easy to find and show related items on every listing.

Can I design my eBay store myself?

Yes. In Seller Hub, open Store and then Edit store to upload a billboard, logo, description and featured items, and eBay has a basic AI banner tool too. Sellers hire a designer when they want one consistent brand across the store and every listing, or don’t have the time to do it well.
