Why hosting matters for eBay
A listing template is HTML inside your item description. The photos you upload to eBay stay in eBay’s gallery, but the template’s own graphics (your logo, banners, icons and badges) have to load from an outside server. If that server is slow, insecure or goes offline, the template breaks on every listing at once.

eBay’s current rules for outside content in a listing description, and what they mean for your template graphics:

Is hosting required for an eBay template?
Yes. Template graphics load from a server outside eBay, and eBay requires that server to use HTTPS. Hosting is set up with every eBay package, so everything works from day one.
Why can’t template graphics go through eBay’s photo uploader?
eBay’s uploader holds your item photos, up to 24 free per listing, and shows them in the gallery. Template graphics sit inside the description’s HTML, so each one needs its own secure web address.
Can I use free image hosting instead?
You can, if it serves images over HTTPS and allows them to be shown on other sites. Free hosts sometimes remove old images or block outside links, and one missing graphic breaks the template on every listing at once.
How much is hosting?
$6.99 a month or $74.99 a year. Paying yearly saves $8.89 compared with twelve monthly payments.
Does hosting renew automatically?
Yes, monthly or yearly, and you can cancel any time.
What happens if my hosting lapses or I cancel?
Your template images stay online for a grace period after your last paid period, and we send you the image files so you can host them somewhere else.
